News has just broken that a faulty Beko fridge freezer was the cause of a fire at a London tower block last week, which was initially thought to have been caused by a lightning strike.
A faulty defroster timer switch on some models of Beko fridge freezers may be responsible for causing fires in several homes over the last few years. The London Fire Brigade have been investigating the problem, which occurs when water gets into the switch, causing an electronic malfunction which could result in the appliance catching fire.
Beko are currently contacting any customers they think may own these models so that they can fix the problem for free, but if you are worried you can contact them on their freephone number 0800 009 4837 or through their website www.beko.co.uk
