10 New Year’s Party Planning Tips

New Years Clock In Snow

Whether it’s been the best year ever or you’re glad to see the back of it, 2016 is coming to an end. What better way to celebrate out with the old and in with the new than a New Year’s party? If you’re hosting this year, here are some tips to help you have an amazing get together (with a little help from your appliances).

Champagne In Glasses And Bottle In Ice Bucket

Don’t let the fun get put on ice

Chances are you’ll need a fair amount of ice to keep your guests’ drinks chilled and refreshing. Be sure to clear out some space in your freezer and make lots of cubes in advance. Or go for the easier option and buy some ice instead.

Keep your champagne stored in the fridge

The bell chimes midnight and the champagne corks pop. But if you’ve not stored your champagne in your fridge and it’s warm, the cork is more likely to pop off violently. This could cause breakages, not to mention you risk losing some of the precious liquid inside the bottle!

Keep cooking simple

You don’t want to ring in the New Year slaving away in the kitchen. Choose nibbles, light bites and canapés that either require no cooking, or can be easily popped into the oven. In other words let your appliance do the hard work so you can enjoy yourself.

Plan your seating

Whilst people may prefer to stand and mingle you can never have too much seating. It’s good to give your guests the option to rest their dancing feet as the evening progresses. If you don’t have enough chairs for everyone, ask if you can borrow some from friends and neighbours.

Keep space aside for the bottles of drink people are sure to bring with them. A drinks rack for your fridge is very useful to stop bottles crushing your lovingly crafted canapés.

Give your coffee machine some essential maintenance

For people who are planning a late night (or those not used to burning the midnight oil) coffee is a great drink to have on hand to get your guests buzzing with energy. If you have a coffee machine make sure it’s de-limescaled and ready for action. Same goes for your kettle too.

Empty your dishwasher

Get all of the party prep dishes washed up well in advance of the festivities. That way you can start the night with a completely empty dishwasher, ready to be filled with plates and glasses. If you’re not lucky enough to have a dishwasher the same principle applies to your draining board.

Have your cordless vacuum to hand

If you have a cordless vacuum keep it within easy reach to clean crumb spillages and party poppers with no fuss before they get ground into the carpet. Window vacuums that suck up moisture are also excellent appliances for cleaning drink spills from coffee tables, worktops and hard floors.

Prepare your TV

Don’t let anything spoil your view of the midnight fireworks around Big Ben via your TV screen. Give your TV a dust down with a specialist screen wipe. Ensure the batteries are working well in the remote control too and replace them if necessary.

Find the words to Auld Lang Syne

Let’s face it; absolutely no-one knows the lyrics to this song! If your party group is likely to want a sing-a-long get the words up on your phone or tablet in advance of the midnight hour. That way, when the all important time comes, you won’t have to stall whilst you find them.

With our best New Year’s party advice given all that’s left to say is good luck party planning and Happy New Year!
