How Do You Load Your Dishwasher?

Loading a dishwasherIf your dishwasher is struggling to provide the cleaning performance you expect or you are constantly replacing cracked or broken basket wheels – how you load your dishwasher could be at the root of the problem. In this post we look at the optimum way to load a dishwasher and as ever if you have your own tips, feel free to share them in the comments.

The first thing to do before you start loading the dishwasher is to clear the dishes, cookware and cutlery of large waste. Once completed, you are ready to begin the loading. It is advisable to place the largest, most soiled items towards the bottom and the more fragile items such as glassware in the top rack. Always place cutlery items in the cutleryLoading a dishwasher basket, not on the racks and avoid overloading the dishwasher.

For best results, make sure that the spray arm and soap dispenser opening are not obstructed and place all items with the most soiled side facing the water source. You should also ensure that there is enough room for water to rinse all surfaces.

Also make sure nothing protrudes from the racks. Any items that can stop the sprayer arms turning, such as saucepan handles will prevent the machine from washing properly. You may find it beneficial to use good-quality dishwasher tablets to remove stubborn stains, grease and burnt on food.
