4 Beko Fridge Faults You Can Fix at Home

4 Beko Fridge Faults You Can You Fix

When it comes to fridges, Beko is the UK’s number one brand – and for good reason.  Since 1990, Beko have been selling a range of household appliances throughout the UK and Ireland, producing appliances which are designed to make life easier whilst also ensuring everyday appliances are energy efficient.

Despite their enviable reputation, as with all appliances, a Beko fridge can develop faults – and below we look at 4 of the most common ones you’re likely to experience and explain how you can repair them.

Fridge Too Warm / Too Cold:

If the fridge has recently been installed or the door has been left open for an extended period of time, it can take your appliance a couple of hours to reach the right temperature. If after a couple of hours the fridge is still too warm or too cold we recommend you manually adjust the temperature setting, ideally the fridge should be between 3⁰C and 5⁰C.

After manually changing the temperature in your fridge, if the appliance still isn’t reaching the desired temperatures it could be that the thermostat is faulty.  But this can be resolved with some simple DIY at home, as outlined in the video below:

Although a faulty thermostat is one possible reason for your fridge is too hot or too cold, it isn’t the only reason. Some of the other causes include:

  • Food / bottles blocking air vents and preventing air from circulating around the fridge. Make sure when putting food in the fridge, you don’t block vents – and surprisingly not all food which you think should be stored in the fridge needs to be, as explained in our previous post “Do You Know What Should & Shouldn’t Be Kept In Your Fridge?
  • The location of the appliance is not suitable – if your fridge is in an area which is “too warm” such as in direct sunlight or next to the cooker it may not be able to keep as cool as it should.
  • Condenser coils are dirty / fridge is too close to the wall. Ensure you regularly clean the condenser coils and the fridge is at least 10cm away from the wall, enabling the air to circulate.
  • Door seal has become faulty enabling cool air to seep out and hot air to seep in. If your door seal is faulty, find a replacement fridge door seal and fit this.

Fridge Temperature

Outside of Fridge Warm to Touch:

Understandably, if your Beko fridge is feeling warm to touch on the outside you may be concerned. But a Beko fridge being slightly warm to touch isn’t uncommon. In fact the design of some Beko appliances means they remove the heat from the content inside by transferring this with a gas through pipework under the surface of the sides to allow it to be taken away.

However, whilst this may be the reason for yours feeling warm to touch, at BuySpares, we would still recommend you keep an eye on the appliance in case a fault does develop or become evident. In such a situation, you should be able to find the advice on how to fix it in our advice centre.

Fridge Constantly Humming:

Any humming from your fridge will be due to the compressor, which runs to keep the appliance at the correct temperature. If the humming or low whirring sound is evident for extended periods of time, it’ll be because the compressor is trying to work harder to keep your fridge at the correct temperature.

You can limit how hard your Beko fridge compressor has to work by ensuring:

  • The ambient temperature outside the fridge is within the recommended range.
  • The door is not left open for extended periods of time, allowing warm air to fill the appliance.

You can also limit how hard the compressor on your fridge has to work by ensuring the coils on your fridge are kept clean and that the fridge is not pushed against the wall preventing air from circulating around the exterior of your appliance.

Leaking or Wet Inside:

Over time general wear and tear can cause your Beko fridge to show signs of leaks. In such a situation it is recommended you check the following 3 areas.

  • Door Seals – check these are intact and the door is closing tightly. If the door seal is damaged or the door isn’t closing tightly, cool air can leave the appliance resulting in condensation occurring. If seals are damaged, you will need to replace them.
  • Drip Pan – this is located on the compressor where the heat from the motor helps evaporate water which has come through the condensation drain hole. When checking such a part it is important to take care, as the pan is likely to have water in it. Once the pan is free from your fridge, give it a once over to check there’s no damage – if there is, get and fit a replacement drip pan.
  • Hose Fittings (for fridges with water dispensers fitted) – these are usually located at the back of the fridge, and it is recommended to check these for any signs of water leaks or if they’ve become loose. It’s also important when checking the hose fittings you are aware of how to turn off the water valve.

If there’s a pool of water inside your fridge at the bottom, your fridge will be feeling the effects of condensation – and this is usually caused due to the drainage hose being blocked by debris, meaning the water which has ran down the wet wall at the back of your fridge hasn’t been able to escape. You can resolve the issue by drying the bottom of your appliance, before unblocking the drainage hole with a cotton bud, and we recommend you clean this area of your fridge on a regular basis.

Understanding the common faults you’re likely to find with your Beko fridge and knowing how to repair them, rather than replacing your appliance, will help save you money in both the short and long term and ensure your appliance continues to work at its peak performance for longer.

      Hi Waheeda

The unusually high temperatures we’re currently experiencing here in the UK could certainly be having an adverse effect on your fridge freezer. We recommend purchasing a freezer thermometer so you can monitor the temperature inside your appliance and avoiding opening the fridge freezer door wherever possible.

If your fridge freezer has not returned to normal once the weather has cooled down you may need to investigate further, looking into the possible cooling issues we mention in the above article.

      Hope this helps.

Ice is forming on the rear wall of fridge and some items are freezing. In spite of setting at minimum.

    • Eleanor

      August 11, 2016 | 13:15 - Reply

      Hi Rita

Ice droplets do form on the cold panel called the wet wall in most fridges and this is normal.

When the door is opened the cold falls out being replaced with warm air. The thermostat then tells the fridge to turn on and provide more cooling. This can allow cold air to ‘pool’ in salad containers at the bottom freezing fruit and veg. If this is the problem move the fruits from the containers in hot weather. If the whole fridge is excessively cold (check with a thermometer) there may be a thermostat or sensor problem.

      Hope this helps.

      Hi James

The drain pipe passes through the insulation at the back to the base of the machine. Over time the insulation can absorb moisture allowing the cold to be transmitted to the hose causing it to freeze. Unfortunately there is no way of repairing this problem effectively once it has occurred. Reducing the temperature and increasing air flow to the liner may help.

      Hope this helps.

      August 23, 2016 | 12:47 - Reply

      Hi Carol

In hot weather or environments some fridges will struggle to maintain the expected temperature. Check with a thermometer after it has run overnight what temperature it has achieved.

If the compressor is running continually and the temperature is high the fridge is trying to cool. Check the door seal and ensure it is not overfilled as this can reduce the airflow inside.

If the compressor cuts out and it is not cold you may have a faulty thermostat shown here: http://www.buyspares.co.uk/thermostat/product.pl?pid=3343579

Hi Eleanor much appreciated your advice however after watching the video to replace a thermostat the only thing that concerns me is that when you start to pull the old thermostat out if it won’t come out it might be attached to the rear of the fridge. What would I be looking for?

      Hi Carol

If your appliance does not have a tube that the capillary is passed into, as per the thermostat in our video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9S_F9j0yDDQ), then it is likely the capillary will pass around the lining of the fridge and be clipped or fixed onto an exposed evaporator. If this is the case it must be disconnected then reconnected in the same manner with usually a couple of inches of the capillary physically touching the evaporator surface to monitor its temperature.

Should you need further information please let us know the full model number of your appliance and we will do our best to assist you. (http://www.buyspares.co.uk/find-your-model-number/help.pl)

I have been doing some works to the kitchen and i have just switched my fridge back on after 2 weeks. The frezzer is cold but the fridge part on Beko is still not cold. Does this normally happen when it is off this period?

    • Eleanor

      August 30, 2016 | 17:20 - Reply

      Hi Frank

Most of the cooling will be sent to the freezer first and as a result the freezer will cool more quickly than the fridge. Within 24 hours the fridge should be cooling to the required temperature as long as the seal is okay on the door, the fridge is not in a very hot environment and the door is not opened too often.

      Hope this helps.

    • Eleanor

      August 31, 2016 | 09:21 - Reply

      Hi Mary

The red light is warning the freezer temperature is too high, the compressor at the back should be running continuously trying to cool the appliance. It is possible if the appliance is ‘frost free’ it may have blocked with ice due to a fault.
Defrost by emptying the appliance and turning it off for 48 hours with the doors open. If this appears to resolve the problem then check the defrost heater circuit at the back of the freezer.

      Hope this helps.

If the freezer compressor is hot and makes a tick twice a minute it is likely to have failed, in which case you’ll need to contact a systems engineer to replace it.

If the compressor is cold check the thermostat and control board.

    • Eleanor

      November 3, 2016 | 15:12 - Reply

      Hi Peter

If the fridge is in a cold environment it may just be that the fridge does not need to cool so the freezer is defrosting.

If the appliance is in a warm environment and the compressor at the back is not running but cold it may be the thermostat.

If the compressor is hot and not running or maybe making a quiet tick then another tick after a few seconds then remaining silent for about a minute it would indicate a failed compressor and would require a refrigeration systems engineer to repair.

      Hope this helps.

      Hi Derek

The most likely cause of this problem is a build-up of ice on the freezer evaporator touching the blades of the fan.

If it is a Samsung RS model there may be a modification but to cure this the easy way, remove the food, switch the appliance off and leave it open for at least 24 hours to ensure it is fully defrosted and any build-up is cleared.

      Hope this helps.

      Hi Mike

This sounds like a failed compressor, which can only be replaced by a refrigerator systems engineer. If the appliance was switched on before it was left standing after being moved it could be blocked as oil could have been pushed through the pipework and blocked it. If that has happened it can only be cleared by using nitrogen to blast the blockage away by a specialist.

      Hope this helps.

      Hi Nigel

Without the model we cannot guarantee the following information but as this is a common problem it is likely this is the cause.
Some Beko models have an electronic board in a compartment at the top of the back panel. These models do not have a thermostat but use a sensor in the lining insulation to monitor the temperature, this sensor is not designed to be replaced. If the board has been replaced it is likely the sensor has failed.

      Hope this helps.

      November 21, 2016 | 14:23 - Reply

      Hi Hazel

First check if the food is defrosting and if the compressor is not running switch off for five minutes and restart the appliance.

If the freezer is frozen, the warning light may have just come on to alert you to indicate there has been a power interruption. If you had been away and the power had gone off for a long period and allowed the food to start to defrost, but the power had returned and re-frozen the food you would not be aware that the food had been re-frozen and potentially contaminated. The machine is designed to give this warning so you would check on return. To reset this try turning the power off for a minute and re-starting or trying to select the quick freeze or quick cooling buttons.

      Hope this helps.

      Hi Bill

Use a thermometer to check the internal temperature. If it is below 4 degrees the fridge will not necessarily come on as it is probably cool enough.
You could test this by using a hair dryer to warm the fridge internally as this should cause the appliance to turn back on.

      Hi Sarah

It sounds like you have a frost free fridge freezer and if this is not defrosting correctly it may be blocked with ice and not allowing the fan to circulate the cold air.
Turn the unit off and remove the cover on the back wall of the freezer, if the evaporator underneath is covered in ice it has a defrost problem so check the defrost heater on the evaporator has not failed.

      Hi Jade

If the contents are remaining frozen then I would not be concerned. Some latest design freezers have compressors that can vary in speed so the motor may be running slower now the content is down to the correct temperature. By doing this the motor uses a lot less power and saves both energy and running costs.

      December 21, 2016 | 13:19 - Reply

      Hi Alan

A little ice on the back wall of a fridge is normal and no cause for concern. If the fridge is very full and food items are touching the back wall this can cause them to freeze. Make sure there is no contact between food and the back wall to solve this issue. Keeping the fridge in a particularly cold environment, for example a garage can also cause the food inside to freeze.

However, if the above points don’t apply and the contents of your fridge have started to freeze this does indicate a fault. The fault could be caused by a number of components so we would need the model number of your appliance to be able to provide further information.

      Dear Shaun

The usual cause of this problem with your fridge freezer is a failure of the control board. You can buy a replacement here:
      http://www.buyspares.co.uk/pcb-control-board/product.pl?pid=1891288

There is another possible cause which is a failure of the sensor found in the insulation of the lining of the fridge. This sensor cannot be replaced so if the control board does not resolve the problem your appliance unfortunately may not be repairable.

Hi, my Beko slimline freezer model F54198N/B555U does not freeze the food placed within it although it will freeze cups of water placed on each shelf. I replaced the circuit board at the top rear of the freezer and the small board behind the temperature setting dial inside the freezer a few months ago because the compressor was turning on and off every few seconds. Following the replacements, all worked as expected. Then after a couple of months, food items were soft and unfrozen when removed from the top shelf in particular. I did a test by turning the temp dial warmer causing the running compressor to turn off. I then opened the freezer door and turned the temperature dial to fast freeze, after about 3 mins the compressor turned on again as you would expect. Maybe this means the temperature sensor is working but the compressor cannot get the freezer to the lower temperature settings for some reason. The freezer is in a kitchen that is between 13-20 degrees generally.
    Any help appreciated!

      January 16, 2017 | 08:56 - Reply

      Hi Joe

This appliance is a ‘frost free’ appliance and the cold air will be blown from the evaporator at the top around the cabinet.
A common problem with these appliances is they can get blocked with ice behind the cover so the air cannot circulate correctly.
Ice normally builds up behind the panel on the evaporator, then after approximately 12 to 16 hours the machine will run a defrost cycle to clear the ice.
Sometimes the defrost cycle may not clear the ice and it can then build up blocking the air flow.
The first thing to do is to completely empty the freezer and turn it off with the door open for 48 hours so air can get in behind the covers and allow the ice to clear completely. The freezer should then work correctly when restarted and if the problem returns after a few weeks you will need to check the defrost element fitted to the evaporator to check if it has failed.

      Hope this helps.

There is a noticeable sound of running water/fluid coming fro the rear of the appliance behind the fridge compartment on the right side looking from the back. Its been running now for some 4 hours but is having no effect on either fridge or the freezer !!.

    • Eleanor

      January 30, 2017 | 16:14 - Reply

      Hi Errol

The sound of ‘running water’ is not unusual as the cooling gas is compressed into a liquid to produce the cooling when allowed to evaporate. The fact the machine started when warmed suggests it was happy with the temperature inside at the time. Some Beko machines learn the environment they are in and this may take a number of weeks. The appliance should be cooling within an hour of operation so you may have a system fault with a failing compressor. This would require a refrigerator systems engineer to resolve and would be expensive.

      Hope this helps.

Hi have been reading up on others problems hoping to find a solution for mine and it seems that quite a few people with same appliance model number as mine. My fridge has started freeezing my food especially in the door nd bottom shelf. I’ve checked the drainage hole etc and tried other things suggested but its a bit strange that the same model/ serial numbered appliances are all having identical problems. Sounds more like a manufacture fault to me. This freezer\fridge is only 4\5 years old. Not happy

      Hi Vicky

Cold air will always fall to the bottom of a fridge especially if there is no circulation fan. This can be more of a problem if the fridge is left undisturbed for long periods and in cold areas it may need the thermostat turning up to reduce the icing. Check the temperature in the middle of the fridge by leaving a fridge thermometer in and adjust if necessary.

      Hope this helps.

      Hi Julie

Your fridge freezer controls the fridge temperature using a sensor and PCB. Check the fridge temperature using a thermometer to confirm the temperature in the middle is below 0 Degrees. If this is the case the problem will be either the control board which can be replaced or the sensor that cannot be replaced as it is foamed into the insulation on the back wall.

      Hope this helps.

Hi can you help please, with a Beko fridge model LX5053W which developed a fault after power cut.it would run for short period only and then stop. If I short out the stat it will run and freeze OK but obviously will not switch off. I ordered a replacement stat from buy spares the exact correct replacement which when fitted produced the same fault symptoms starts to run for a few minutes before switching off

      Hi John

Check the internal temperature of your fridge with a thermometer as if in a cool environment the fridge may not need to run very often to maintain the correct internal temperature of between 1C and 5C. If it gets warmer than this and does not start it is likely to be a thermostat problem.

      Hope this helps.

I too have the same problem model. Have tried cleaning everything and the problem is worse as the whole fridge is freezing food rather than just the bottom. Should I turn the dial more towards minimum or maximum…or will it make no difference? I’m desperate now as this is a replacement model for one I got rid of recently for (what I now realise) was obviously the same reason.

On some models there is a control board that might be responsible for this fault, but without the model number of your appliance we cannot confirm this.

    • Eleanor

      February 27, 2017 | 13:06 - Reply

      Hi Danielle

From the information you’ve given, it sounds like you either have a problem with the compressor or the thermostat in your fridge freezer.

If you can’t hear your compressor running and the compressor coils at the back of your appliance are cool to the touch, suspect a compressor fault. You’ll need to hire a professional to fix this as doing so requires specialist equipment.

However, if the compressor seems to be running as usual, your fridge could have a thermostat issue, in which case the thermostat will need to be replaced.

      Hope this helps.

      Hi Suze

First, we recommend checking the power to the machine by trying another appliance in the plug socket and checking the plug fuses. The power first enters the machine to a control panel in the top, so disconnect the power and examine this for signs of damage or smoke. Replace it if required.

I have emptied it and left it off for a few days, there was no sign of ice build up inside when I emptied it, the compressor was cold as well. I see it has 2 pcbs on it, do you know if one of them is likely to have failed? The internal one PENTA-430630285 looks quite cheap to replace. TIA Martin

      Hi Martin,

      Thank you for your enquiry.

The control inside is unlikely to be the problem, and a failed compressor would normally be hot so this suggests the problem is likely to be caused by the main board which can be viewed by clicking the following link http://www.buyspares.co.uk/pcb-control-module/product.pl?pid=2044489

      Hi Nina,

      Thank you for your enquiry.

Your model cxfd5104w does have a sensor and an electronic control board, however, if the sensor fails usually the fridge section will freeze up not stop cooling. Check if the compressor at the back is running then there may be a system fault like low gas, if it is hot but not running it is likely the compressor has failed and required replacement. Both of these faults require a refrigeration systems engineer to repair. If it is not running the problem may be the control board: http://www.buyspares.co.uk/pcb-control-board/product.pl?pid=1891288.

    • mariya

      April 21, 2017 | 16:03 - Reply

      Hi Michael,

The smell is not likely to be from the gas as this is very unlikely to be the gas escaping as this would quickly disperse with very little smell. Check for signs of spillage under and around the bottle rack and maybe under the machine or in the door seal folds. If none are found defrost and mix a couple of teaspoonful’s of Bicarbonate of soda (baking powder) in warm water and wipe the lining to clean and neutralize any smells.

      April 21, 2017 | 16:04 - Reply

      Hi Jordan,

The pipes freezing will not stop the flow of gas as it can flow even at temperatures below -50c. The freezer evaporator should be very cold (-20) across its whole surface area when running. If it is not the only person with the right equipment who could repair the appliance would be a refrigeration systems engineer. If this is the case get a fixed price quote from Repaircare.

I have a beko LA620w refrigerator. Just this week it’s constantly humming as if it’s trying to get up to temperature. It makes no difference on the thermostat dial and is freezing up at the back quite badly. I used your site for guidance, cleaned the coils and condenser from dust. Ordered and replaced the thermostat and nothing has changed. The door seal appears fine and i haven’t repositioned the fridge. The condenser is quite warm now, not sure how warm it gets? Any other suggestions before i purchase a new one?

    • mariya

      April 25, 2017 | 13:38 - Reply

      Hi Justine,

If the fridge is icing up then the compressor and system is likely to be working correctly.
Check the door is sealing correctly and completely defrost the appliance by leaving off and open for at least 24 hours then ensure the inside is dry before starting again. If the thermostat has been replaced but the fridge is still getting to cold it may be due to the thermostat phial not being in the correct place. The tube this passes into should feed through the insulation and be fixed behind the evaporator, sometimes this can come away causing over freezing, this is not repairable if it has happened.

      I hope this helps.

      June 22, 2017 | 12:35 - Reply

      Hi C.Barry,

With the exceptional temperatures recently this may not be a fault. Every time the door is opened the cold air in the appliance will fall out and be replaced by air surrounding air, this could easily be in 30C plus so will quickly melt any frost on the baskets until the air is sufficiently cooled by the evaporator. If the freezer is checked first thing in the morning after being running overnight and there is still unfrozen moisture when first opened contact your supplier. If it initially frozen but melts quickly try to avoid unnecessary opening in hot weather.

      June 22, 2017 | 13:35 - Reply

      Hi Donna,

The problem is your appliance is struggling to get the internal temperature down. The likely cause of the problem is the exceptional temperatures recently that may have increased the air around the appliance to over 30 C. Ventilate the surrounding area and try not to open the door until the warning stops as every time you open the door cold air falls out and is replaced with warm air from the surrounding area.

    • mariya

      June 22, 2017 | 13:36 - Reply

      Hi S Benyon,

Whenever the door is open cold air falls out of the fridge and is replaced by warm air from the surrounding environment. This quickly contracts as it cools ‘sucking’ the door closed, this is common on most larger fridges and freezers. Once the air has stopped contracting the door will open as normal. We think there is a pipe from the drain under the ‘wet wall’ of the fridge to clear condensation water. Check this is clear as if restricted would increase the effect of the suction.

      Hi Jim,

In the excessively hot weather your fridge may be trying to work but struggling to cool due to the warm air that enters when the door is open. We believe the cooling for the fridge is from a panel in the back lining (wet wall) and this should produce droplets of ice if being cooled correctly. If there is no signs of ice at all even when first opened in the morning it is possible the compressor is worn or it has lost some gas, both problems would require a refrigeration engineer to resolve. Should this be the case you may consider Repaircare for a fixed price repair.

      Hi Debra,

To prevent condensation in this area and to disperse the heat produced when cooling the contents the excess heat is passed through this area. During hot periods this may feel excessive but is unlikely to be a problem.

I have a Beko frost free combi fridge/freezer – CDA653F. Last evening I heard a hissing type sound coming from the F/F and later noticed a small amount of water on the floor – front, right hand corner. I put down some paper towels but this morning I noticed the paper towels had absorbed the water and there was more liquid on the floor (not sure if it is water as it has some kind of smell and the white paper towels appear to be slightly stained). Any ideas what might be causing this problem. Assistance appreciated

    • mariya

      June 28, 2017 | 15:34 - Reply

      Hi Sammie,

Your appliance has a frost free freezer, frost will build up behind the panel on the back wall of the cavity and be melted periodically by the defrost element.
The water produced should drain into a reservoir above the compressor at the back and evaporate away. During defrost the ice may melt and drip onto the heater and create the hissing you described. If the container has overfilled it may leak, if water is found inside the fridge make sure no products touch the wet wall at the back as this can ‘wick’ the water from the wet wall causing it to run onto shelves and under containers eventually leaking from around the door.

      Hi Deb,

The noise you are hearing is likely to be caused by the refrigeration gasses passing through the system. Many fridges and freezers are known to make similar noises and it is not likely to be a sign of a problem about to occur. The noise may be effected by the ambient temperature surrounding the appliance and as a result may increase and decrease in frequency and volume.

      Hi Deb,

It is normal for the wet wall of your appliance to have a little covering of ice droplets, these will melt and run into the gutter below when the machine switches off during the defrost cycle which will occur after about 16 hours of compressor run time.

The likely cause of the problem is a build up of ice blocking the evaporator, this can take over 24 hours to clear when left with the door open defrosting.
When clear the fridge should show cold on the rear wall within 24 hours of the appliance re starting.

The problem is likely to be due to a build-up of ice if it is a frost free appliance due to a defrost problem. But without a model number we cannot confirm this.

      Hi Simon,

From our information on your model the fridge is ‘cooled’ by a ‘wet wall’ evaporator on the back wall of the fridge cavity. This will normally develop a light frost covering evenly across its surface, if it is only frosted at the top of the wet wall then either the system has lost some of its gas or the compressor is losing its efficiency and not cooling sufficiently. Both of these problems can only be corrected by a specialist refrigeration systems engineer. If the wet wall is frosting well then the problem may be being caused by too warm environment and allowing too much warm air into the fridge from repeatedly opening the door.

      I hope this helps.

      Hi Frances,

If ice had built up behind the cover inside the freezer it is likely there is a problem with the defrost circuit. This could be due to an open circuit heater fitted to the evaporator or due to the control board fitted at the top of the back insulation.

      I hope this helps.

      July 27, 2017 | 16:27 - Reply

      Hi Anthony,

If you have confirmed no power is being fed to the fan motor check that the evaporator is cooling correctly and the sensor is OK, If the control board is receiving the wrong feedback from the sensor it may not turn the circulation fan on. If the temperatures and sensors are OK it may be a faulty control board that requires replacement.

      I hope this helps.

Hi, We have a Beko Fridge/Freezer Model CDA660FS. Has been working perfectly, but today the freezer has warmed up & fridge is warmimg up. When I plug it out the fan runs for 1 minute and then switches off. I have taken the cover off at back of freezer and the unit is fully frosted over with some ice. Any advice appreciated? THanks

      Hi Sean,

If the evaporator is blocked by ice the air to cool the cavity cannot be circulated correctly. Defrost and check the heating element under the evaporator behind the panel in the freezer as if this fails it cannot automatically control the ice build up.

Hi Eleanor. I have a Beko fridge/freezer dg01820/0510. A week ago I decided to defreeze and clean. After this I set back the fridge/freezer on and only the freezer part of it has been functioning since then. What can I do to get the fridge part of it working too?

      Hi Mua,

We do not recognise your model number so can only give general advice.
Most fridge freezers use a ‘wet wall’ evaporator to cool the fridge. This should produce a light frosting on the back of the fridge if working correctly.
If there is no frosting and the problem is not resolved by completely defrosting the appliance for 24 hours with the doors open then message us again with the full model information from the ‘rating plate’ on the inside of the fridge.

      Kind regards,

    Good Day BuySpares Team,

Our Beko AP930X American Fridge/Freezer serial number:7219346392 just stopped cooling, initially we thought it was on auto defrost but it is not the case. It is displaying the “i” sign and E8 on the control panel but compressor sounds fine but not cooling at all. Before this happens I have been noticing water collection at the bottom tray of the fridge compartment while on the freezer session the contents of the bottom tray gets frozen completely with build-up of ice to the top. We called a local engineer who attended, he checked the fridge/freezer and adviced that the compressor appears to be working fine and no visible leak of gas from behind but concluded that it must be an internal gas leakage hence it is not cooling and with modern Fridge/freezer internal gas leakage cannot be detected or fixed so we have to get a new replacement. Before going for a replacement it thought that it is best to seek a second opinion to confirm if it is beyond repair as he stated. Please you advice will be much appreciated as it would be a huge challenge to suddenly get a new replacement. Kind regards Jude

      Hi Jude,

The fact you advise poor cooling but ice at the bottom of the freezer suggest the cold air is not circulating correctly and not necessarily a lack of gas. The likely cause of the problem is a build-up of ice behind the cover at the back of freezer compartment due to a defrosting problem. Remove the shelves and try to remove the cover, If it is stuck with ice allow it to fully defrost by leaving off and open for 24 hours. Once the cover is removed you can check the defrost heater with a meter, if there is a high resistance (over 400 ohms) the heater will need replacing and be the cause of the problem. If you are not confident doing the repair contact Repaircare for a fixed price repair.

      I hope this helps.

Found the freezer off and not responding. Turned the thermostat to full cooling but no response with the lights indicating power is OK. Turned off the power then back on and the compressor came on for a few seconds then after a click in the top part of the freezer it stopped again. This was repeated a number of times with the same result

      Hi Michael,

If your appliance will only run the compressor for a few seconds then clicks approximately twice a minute it suggests the compressor has failed and needs replacing by a refrigeration systems engineer.

      Hi Jenna,

The problem with your appliance may be due to a blockage of ice preventing the cold air being circulated.
This may be due to a defrost heater problem, this can be checked by removing the evaporator cover and locating the heater on the evaporator and checking the heater resistance is under 200 Ohms typically.

      I hope this helps.

      Hi Linda,

It is possible if the appliance is a frost free type that the evaporator behind the rear wall cover has blocked with ice. Completely defrosting for 24 hours with the door open should resolve the problem.

My beko gnev220s started defrosting and I found the fan wasn’t working. I’ve replaced the fan but neither the top of the fridge or the freezer is cold enough. I’ve checked for blockages and dusted/ cleaned all the vents etc and it still isn’t working.

      August 29, 2017 | 16:42 - Reply

      Hi Richard,

If your appliance is not cooling the evaporator the fan may not turn on. Check if the compressor is running, if it is not running but makes a quiet click noise twice a minute it may indicate a faulty compressor requiring a refrigerator systems engineer to replace it.

If the alarm is sounding it suggests a temperature problem so recheck in different levels inside. The problem is likely to be due to ice build up so check for this and if found check the defrost heater.

My Beko frost free freezer(model TFF677APW) has stopped freezing the contents since the weekend, although I can hear the compressor running as well as the internal fan/evaporator above the fast freeze shelf. Having read through blogs, the general advice is to empty and switch off the freezer for at least 24 hours. I’ve done this but it has not resolved the problem, any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!!

      Hi Nish,

If there is a build-up of ice behind the panel in the freezer back wall it will prevent the cold air being circulated in the appliance. Switching off without leaving the door open may not have cleared the ice, try to remove the evaporator cover panel on the wall of the freezer. If ice is blocking check the defrost heater.

Please note: we could not list the part we refer to as we do not recognise your model. Please recheck this.

Hi Maria, thanks for the response. Just to confirm that the door was left open and I have also removed the evaporator cover panel and no ice build-up was anywhere to be found. Moreover there was no evidence of any melted ice or water in the drip tray above the compressor so don’t think it could be ice blocking. I’ve rechecked the model and it is TFF577APW,so made a typo due to big fingers Let me know if you need any further information to help diagnose the problem. Appreciate your help!

We have a Beko A Class Fridge-Freezer – model no. CDA 648 FS/1 – it is c.12 years old. About 10 days ago the fridge section developed what we call snow on the rear wall panel – about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick – above the top two shelves. The whole of the fridge is now too cold. The freezer section is OK.
We have of course adjusted the dial but to no avail.
I have today called two companies who repair fridges and the first thing they BOTH asked was: ‘Is it a Beko’?!’ According to them this is a frequent problem with Bekos which is caused by a problem with the sensor which is hidden behind the interior wall panel somewhere.
So, before I spend any money on anything please can you advise me what the problem and the solution is? Thanks.

      Hi Adrian,

There are two likely causes for this problem, the temperature sensor that is foamed into the lining and cannot be replaced, or the control board http://www.buyspares.co.uk/pcb-control-board/product.pl?pid=1891288 which is reasonably priced and has about a fifty percent chance of resolving the problem.

If the appliance is in good order it is worth taking the chance on the PCB rather that replacing straight away.

Further to my last post, i now know that i have a PCB and sensor in my fridge freezer. Can you tell me if the sensor is a thermocouple or some other device. If it is a thermocouple it is less likely to fail and the problem may well be the control PCB situated at the rear top of the appliance? I would also like to know if this appliance has a heater behind the back panel controlled from the rear PCB. CDA543FW/2.I am an electrical engineer so i am qualified to check the heater and sensor but i don’t have a wiring diagram, where can i get one for my appliance? Regards
