10 Extremely Useful Spare Parts to Have Spares Of
March 16, 2017 | Appliances and Appliance Care | No comments
Waiting around for a replacement part with your appliance out of action is very inconvenient. Even if you’ve chosen to get your spares delivered the next day it can still be a hassle to wait for them.
We’ve racked our brains and come up with some replacement parts that you’ll almost certainly need in your lifetime. Stock up now and your future self will thank you!
Oven and Fridge Light Bulbs
You might be able to find a universal bulb that could fit both your oven and fridge if they have the same fittings. Bulbs don’t last forever so when the one in your appliance goes you won’t be left in the dark for long with a replacement to hand.
Plug Fuses
It would be a real shame to throw an appliance away when everything is working perfectly except the plug. If you’ve switched your appliance on and there are no visible signs of life, try changing the fuse in the plug and you could just save your machine.
Strimmer Line
As you trim the edges of the lawn with your string trimmer the trimmer line spool will gradually get used up. Have a spare spool and you’ll never be caught out midway through your lawn maintenance.
Pressure Washer Cleaner
If pressure washing your car or garden shed is on your weekend to-do list, make sure to stock up on plenty of cleaning solution first so you’re not left with a half finished job.
Air Fresheners for Fridge
Fridges can pick up smells and if you have a penchant for ripe cheese, garlic dishes or fish, the smells left behind in your fridge can be less than pleasant. The solution is a fridge air freshener. To stop bad smells from coming back keep a replacement too, that you can switch over straight away when the old one stops doing its job.
Washing Machine/Dishwasher Cleaner
Lots of people don’t know what to do if their washing machine starts to smell. The solution is actually very easy, the washer just needs cleaning. A monthly use of a cleaner, like our BuySpares Limescale and Detergent Remover, keeps mould, bacteria and limescale at bay in your appliance.
Cooker Hood Filters
If your cooker hood filters are replaceable then you’ll need spares at some point. Even if your filters are the metal type that you can wash, the carbon filters will still need changing periodically in hoods that recirculate the air they suck up back into your kitchen.
Water Filters for Fridge
When the reminder light comes on to change your fridge water filter you’ll be one step ahead if you already have a replacement.
Washable Vacuum Filters
Even if you can wash and re-use your vacuum cleaner filter, it’s a good idea to keep a spare one. That way whilst your old filter is drying your vacuum cleaner isn’t out of action. You can just pop the spare in it and you’re good to go.
Lawnmower Blade
Lawnmower blades can get damaged on stones or twigs and do need replacing from time to time. It’s good to have some spare blades in your garden shed for when you need them.
