Close Up Of Wellies And Pressure Washer

In this post we show you how to get the most out of your pressure washer. We reveal the best ways to clean and maintain your pressure washer, as well as providing tips on using your pressure washer to clear your drains, clean your patio and tackle your dirty car.

1. Caring For Your Pressure Washer

Before using your pressure washer, always check the inlet filter for dirt or debris. You should also check to see if the nozzle is clogged or blocked by dirt or grit. Clearing blockages will enhance performance and avoid unnecessary damage being caused. Always clean the washer after every use – we explain how to clean and care for your pressure washer in our advice centre.

2. Unblock Your Drains Without Chemicals

Save money on expensive plumber call-outs by keeping your drains clear of blockages with a drain attachment for your pressure washer. Using your pressure washer also enables you to clear blockages in your drains or your pipes without the need to use potentially harmful chemicals.

3. Tackle Patios and Decking With Ease

Remove stains and dirt from your patio or other hard surfaces with a patio cleaning attachment for your pressure washer. Pressure wash patio cleaners use less water than a conventional hose and can do the job in short time. Plus, they can also be used to clean garage doors, fences and decking.

4. Get The Right Detergent

To get the best cleaning results from your pressure washer, make sure you use a cleaning solution designed for the challenge. Whatever brand of pressure washer you have, there will be a wide range of solutions available, including those designed for cleaning cars, patios and decks.

5. Use a Brush or Sponge

Alongside the previously mentioned attachments available, brushes and sponges can be ideal for helping you get the job done. Sometimes outdoor cleaning tasks require a helping hand, and having a sponge or brush attached to the end of your pressure washer can go a long way in achieving a sparkling finish.

6. Extend Your Reach

If you’re struggling to reach certain areas of your garden or patio with the pressure washer, you’ll likely need an extension hose. Extension hoses come in a variety of sizes, going up to around 10 metres, but you will need to ensure you get one that is designed to fit your pressure washer model.

7. Stay Safe

Always make sure you read your pressure washer’s instructions thoroughly before first use, and wear any appropriate protective clothing such as gloves or goggles. When using the pressure washer, keep the cable away from water as much as possible and plug the pressure washer into a socket with RCD protection that will switch off the electricity automatically if an earth fault is detected.

      Hi Kim

If your cleaner is a ‘wet vac’ have you removed the ‘HEPA’ filter? If this gets damp it can block and reduce air flow.
If you still have problems, please give a model number for further advice.

      Hope this helps.
