A Well Maintained Oven is the Key to Even Cooking

oven sparesIn order to get the best results in the kitchen you need your oven to maintain a consistent temperature. If heat escapes from the oven while in use it can lead to uneven cooking and can be a real challenge especially over the frantic festive period.

A main cause of heat escaping is that the cooker door seal fails to form a tight enough seal between the door and the body of the oven. If the seal is loose or damaged it allows heat to escape. It may be possible to tighten up seal but in most cases it will need to be replaced, watch the video below to find out how.

If the door gasket is ok then a faulty door hinge could be to blame. It is important that the oven door lines up correctly to provide a tight seal. A poor fitting indicates a broken or bent cooker door hinge. Fortunately hinges are inexpensive and quite straight-forward to fit.

If your oven isn’t heating up at all then it is most likely that the cooker element has blown and will need to be replaced. These handy videos will help should you need to tackle a repair any fault that is causing a loss of heat from your oven:
